The "I Have Will Power"
Curriculum is a must have for every school.
Researchers from UCLA, Harvard
Medical School, and the National Institute of Health have shown that
youth lack the natural ability to control their impulsive
decisions. This, in fact, is due to the incomplete development of
the portion of the brain called the prefrontal cortex. It has been
determined that the complete development of this part of the brain
occurs in a person’s early twenties. Yet, in spite of this lack of
ability to naturally control these impulsive urges, not many programs or
activities concentrate on improving youth’s ability to make better
impulsive decisions.
At the same time, a number of laws have been enacted to incarcerate, and
in some cases, even execute youth under 18 who fail to make better
impulsive decisions. Aside from the criminal perspective of this
discovery, teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, drug/alcohol abuse, and school
dropout, also spawn from this lack of control
This program is a
unique and powerful life skills tool that equips learners with the
strategies needed to think and make wiser decisions when faced with
everyday, and sometimes challenging situations
